GO GREEN WITH SCU.....In the coming months, we'll be using a more cost efficient and environmentally friendly way of doing business through the drive-thru...REUSEABLE MONEY BAGS!  Every year, the credit union goes through nearly 60,000 drive-thru envelopes.  And if you think about it, how long do you as a user of the drive-thru utilize that envelope from the time it enters your hands?  Maybe 5 or even 10 seconds?  In an effort to focus on the future and be mindful of the environment, SCU made the decision to move to reuseable bags.  Here's how it works...you can purchase a money bag for $1, keep it in your vehicle and each time you use the drive-thru at SCU, you'd place your bag in the canister or drawer and the teller will give you back your receipt and/or money in the bag and off you go! 

If you do not want to purchase a bag for $1, tellers will have them on-site for you to remove your receipt and/or money and place it right back in the canister or drawer.  With this change, we're also asking you for your opinion!  We'd like to use the money received for these bags to improve the quality of life in our area.  So, the next time you come into any SCU location, you'll have the opportunity to purchase a bag as well as receive a ballot to place your vote for a local organization or cause you'd like to help!

Another way to GO GREEN is to sign up for E-STATEMENTS!  Starting Monday, March 1st, 2010, members can receive their monthly statement via email!  It's environmentally friendly and you will receive your e-statement much more quickly than waiting for a paper statement!  Sign up for the service in one of two ways- current Online Banking users have an area (View Statements) available to "Opt-in" while logged on to the system or you can stop in to sign up with a Member Services Representative.  You must be an Online Banking user to obtain this service.  Sign up anytime before April 30th, 2010, and receive $5!  IMPORTANT NOTE: An email will be sent to you every month notifying you that your statement is ready so please add the following address to your address book: estatement@shipbuilderscu.org

SCU'S DEBIT CARD COMES EQUIPPED WITH A WATCH DOG!  Just like credit cards, you have 24-7 protection against savvy perpetrators of debit card fraud.  That's because the debit cards we issue are protected by FraudWatch PLUS.  Experienced fraud analysts watch for any suspicious card activity and will contact you immediately if they detect potential fraud on your card.  An example of this is your card being used outside your typical usage patterns.  We may call you or, if you ever receive a call from "Fraud Protection Services", know that our watch dog is doing its job to ensure your card has not been compromised.
